Other Speakers – Your Duties

Ring in a Glass

Today it is more and more common to have a best woman instead of a best man. It is also not unusual for the bride to speak. It may be, for various reasons, that the father of the bride will not be present and his duties will fall to someone else. This could be the mother of the bride or a close family member. You will probably be responding to, or proposing, a toast. Your speech will probably end with a toast.

How long should I talk for?

This depends on the circumstances. We will make sure that the duration is just right for the occasion.

Finding the right tone

It is up to you to decide whether you want to be humourous, sincere, profound or sentimental. You will need to think about whether you would like to use poetry or other quotes to vary your speech. Let us know and we will help you select appropriately.

What do I need to say?

This will depend entirely on who you are representing. We will make sure you say the right things to the right people

What if I forget my speech?

We will give you bound prompt cards and tips to help you remember your speech.

And Finally...

This is a day of fun and celebration. Enjoy it.

What does it cost? The Cost of the speech is £75.00. This is payable in advance and we are sorry that we are unable to commence work without payment.

We provide you with a first draft based on the questions you have answered. You then have the opportunity to change anything you do not feel comfortable with and work towards a final draft that you are 100% confident with. Once the words are right you will feel confident and you can begin to look forward to the big day. It will normally take 2-3 weeks for us to write a speech and provided you give us plenty of warning, you will have enough of time to rehearse.

Remember: ‘We write the right words’.
