The Bride Groom’s Wedding Speech

The Groom - Your Duties

Rose

Doubtless you and your bride have worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth running of the proceedings. There now remains a few final things that you should address in your speech. That done, the rest of the day is your own!

How long should I speak?

Your speech is not expected to be as long as the best man. 3–5 minutes is ample for a formal ceremony and will provide plenty of opportunity to ensure all bases are covered.

Finding the right tone

Your speech is expected to me more profound and sincere than the Best Man’s speech – although you may wish to get a few digs in before he stands to deliver, though making it quite clear that you really are only joking. You should also add some sincere words for your new wife.

What do I need to say?

Firstly, you will respond to the toast given by your new father in law – as long as you then remember to thank just about everyone for just about everything you will be OK. But this should not just be a litany of thank you’s – we will help you to find a humorous and thought provoking way to make this an interesting and engaging speech that does not leave anyone out. Your toast will normally end with a toast to the Bridesmaids

What if I forget my words?

You will be provided with bound prompt cards and memory joggers. We will leave spaces for you to make notations on these yourself – which will help you to remember your speech.

And Finally...

This is your day. The plural you. You and your new wife. Enjoy it
